DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with Band 5 experience who wishes to develop specialist Band 6 skills within a small and supportive team. We are looking for a self- motivated, friendly and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our established Children’s Therapy Team in North East Lincolnshire. We are able to offer this post as a development post for those with little prior paediatric experience or as a specialist post to those with more paediatric experience.

We are a small but dynamic multi professional team comprised of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy. The team is based on the hospital site at Grimsby, but we have close links with the teams in North Lincolnshire to support clinical developments and CPD opportunities.

Your job will be to provide an increased access to Expert Speech and Language assessment and management of children with SEN in mainstream schools. This will include supporting Children and Young People with AAC and Disordered communication. As part of this role you will be expected to work closely with the established team and that of the Education Services provided by the Local Authority and Schools. You will also support the team lead in new service development activities, regular audits and development of Outcome measures. Applicants should have experience of working with paediatrics in a generalist capacity and experience working with DLD or in Mainstream schools would be desirable however; full supervision and training will be provided.

We are committed to offering a professionally led service, support from a friendly team, and opportunities for ongoing professional development, effective supervision as well as access to the support of administrative staff and an electronic patient record. Internal and external courses will be supported through an annual personal appraisal scheme. As this post is available as a development opportunity, we are committed to providing support to develop core Band 6 competencies, which we anticipate would be completed within 12 months.
