Together We Care, We Respect and We Deliver

Join us and help us provide this vision to a population of more than 440,000 people.  Our Trust is one the of area’s biggest employers, running hospitals in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole as well as community services.

Path Links invites applications for a full time substantive Consultant Cellular Pathologist based at Lincoln County Hospital. The post attracts 10PAs (but can be increased to 11PAs by agreement with Clinical Director). Those candidates wishing to work part time will also be considered.

Path Links is a single managed NHS clinical pathology network operating across Lincolnshire. It was formed in 2001 from the amalgamation of NHS pathology services in Boston, Grantham, Grimsby, Lincoln and Scunthorpe, serving a population of approximately 1.2 million. The Path Links Cellular Pathology Department is a team of sixteen consultants based at Lincoln County Hospital

Reporting of breast specimens would be desirable, but not essential and the appointee could choose other special interests to complement the existing team. There is a daily multi-headed microscope session to review difficult/interesting cases. Workload would be tailored to experience. Multidisciplinary team meetings are supported on five hospital sites, some via videoconference links. There is no requirement to report cervical cytology. The new appointee may wish to choose a mentor from our supportive team of colleagues, if this is their first consultant post. Autopsy services are conducted on two sites (Lincoln and Grimsby). Participation in the autopsy rota (mainly Coronial, on a time shift basis) is welcomed but not essential.

Path Links have invested in Digital Pathology and have adopted whole slide digital imaging (WSI) for clinical reporting. This has broad ranging capabilities for new and flexible ways of working.

Applicants must hold FRCPath (or equivalent) and have specialist registration with the GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.

Lincolnshire is centrally located with easy access to road, rail, sea and air making it an ideal base for living and working. Access to good childcare and education is a crucial factor when deciding where to live and the schools in Lincolnshire are among the best in the country. Lincolnshire is one of the few counties in the UK to retain grammar schools and has a large number of schools with specialist status in a wide range of subject areas.

Each year thousands of people choose to come to Lincolnshire, primarily for the quality of life it has to offer. There is real mix of a thriving urban city with an impressive cathedral, bustling historic market towns, idyllic villages, miles of unspoilt coastline and areas of natural beauty. One of the biggest attractions, especially for those moving north, is the comparative affordability of houses. We can also offer the appointee a very attractive relocation and recruitment premium.
